Dan gradings

The Wadōkai Finland Dan Committee organizes JKF Wadōkai 1st–3rd dan grading examinations twice a year, in connection with the technical seminars held in May and November.

Following the examinations, the Dan Committee submits the details of successfully awarded grades to the JKF Wadōkai headquarters for official registration. The headquarters subsequently issues the dan certificates, which are distributed by the Dan Committee at later seminars.

JKF Wadōkai has established the following fees for dan grade registration:

1st dan – 8 000 ¥ (approx. 43 €)
2nd dan – 9 000 ¥ (approx. 49 €)
3rd dan – 10 000 ¥ (approx. 54 €)

If you are not already a member of JKF Wadōkai, a one-time membership fee of 3 000 ¥ (approx. 16 €) must be paid together with the 1st dan registration fee.

The registration fee is paid to the Dan Committee in euros together with the examination fee, based on the exchange rate in effect at the time of payment. The registration fee will be refunded if the grading is unsuccessful.

Kyū and Mon gradings

Clubs within Wadōkai Finland independently plan and organize their kyū and mon examinations and award the achieved grades to their members.

Wadōkai Finland provides recommendations for the kyū and mon syllabi used by its clubs. These syllabi are designed to support clubs and groups practicing Wadō-ryū karate in Finland. Their purpose is to guide students’ progression in a structured and gradual manner, enabling sound technical development.

The defined requirements help practitioners build the technical proficiency needed to meet the standards of JKF Wadōkai and, in time, to successfully complete dan grade examinations.
